During the months between November and February, Seattle falls into what is known as “the big dark”. The city is wrapped in a wet, bone-chilling haze as the days slip away and the night becomes us. For this weeks show, I felt that a warm, brass hug was in order.

Included in the mix: songs about love, sorrow, and the undeniable allure of SAX. I’ve been waiting for exactly the right moment to debut this playlist. Since there are only a handful of occasions where you can play an hour of unapologetic sexy sax on air and not be haunted by cringe, I’ll be leaning FULLY into this one. This one is from me to you. To the lovers. The haters too.

Highlights This Week

250 - PPONG

A former producer for South Korean stars like NewJeans (NJZ), steps into the spotlight with his 2nd solo album. PPONG takes its name after the genre ppong-jak, an offshoot of Korea’s soulful trot genre. While the entire album is a sonic treat, “Royal Blue”, seduced me from the start, launching me into an ongoing deep dive into City Pop sax (how is this not an official genre yet)?

Delivery Music - Pear Club

“Pear Club” brings together some of mainland China’s most exciting indie artists under Delivery Music (递梨音乐) - a collective known for pushing the boundaries of Chinese alternative sounds. This genre-bending album features a row of established and emerging artists making waves through China, artists like Ahlog / CHILLGOGOG / Franklin (饭卡) / joelae / Ligga (梨哥) / Luts / Sovietaxi / Zijia Wu (吴紫嘉). I’ve been a fan of the experimental electronic scene coming out of China for quite some time now. As independent voices rise and artistic freedom pulses through the underground, this album feels like a defining snapshot of the movement.
